Borgo Di Tragliata put simply is a destination that every photographer would dream to shoot, and every bride and groom would aspire to exchange vowels. Just an hours drive outside of Rome, Italy set in the rolling countryside sits this country farm packed full of beautiful buildings, panoramic views and exceptionally well maintained gardens with swimming pools. It was therefore a dream come true when Samantha & Aidan chose me to capture the big day!
Packing bags for my first destination wedding was an exciting yet nerve racking experience, but thankfully after all my equipment made it to the other side we were quickly picked up via mini bus and whisked off to the venue. On arrival, around 5pm Aidan met us with beer in hand, and at that moment I new we were going to be in for a fun few days. "Unpack and get to the pool" were words we picked out of the first sentence, so we did just that. (camera in hand of course).
We headed down to the pool and met their friends and family over a few drinks before jumping in the pool.
DAY OF THE WEDDING
As Borgo Di Tragliata is spread over a few acres we arranged a tour with Christina the morning of in order to gain our bearings. Thinking we would have an hours walk on our hands we braced ourselves before she came round the corner in a golf buggy, score! 20 minutes later we were back and ready to shoot bridal & groom preperations. As like most brides, Samantha was anxious about being photographed, but shortly after establishing ourselves as invisible we allowed her and her family to open gifts and share moments together. Her friend, which I can only remember as "I am Shell" from her Instagram page created a stunning book full of details from their friendship to date. It was quite something, and even my girlfriend Rebecca who was second shooting on the day became glass eyed.
About 100ft up and on the top of a small cliff was the chosen location for the ceremony. It was an obvious choice for Samantha & Aidan as after meeting 10 years ago in Disney Land, Florida only a fairytale setting would do. Drinks on the lawn was followed by speeches and dinner looking over the countryside, framed by the setting sun. Hats off to the best-man who packed every disney pun imaginable into the speech which caused laughter that could no doubt be heard for as far as the eye could see.
Food, fun and laughter went well into the night. However, as the night drew in it was time for us to leave. Huge congratulations to both Samantha & Aidan who had a fun, music and love filled personalised wedding day to remember. We wish you all the happiness moving forward in your new life together.
