Who knew you could hold a wedding at Oakfield House, Chester Zoo? I certainly didn't, but I was over the moon when Ruth and Marc asked me to be their chosen wedding photographer. What a wedding reception destination! Being a photographer in Manchester is a privilege due to it's historical buildings and close proximity to unbelievable countrysides. However, Oakfield House is certainly cream of the crop! It's 100 metres from a Lion enclosure!
We started at Ruth's parents for bridal preperations before taking a large red route planner to the incredible St, Elphins Church where the couple are regular attendees. It's large imposing chancel where the congregation sit is quite something. We all witnessed some emotional speeches at the lectern by family and friends before listening to a beautiful rendition of William Blakes, Jerusalem by the church's choir.
After taking images outside the Church, close family and friends got back on the route planner to Oakfield House, Chester zoo for the reception. Ruth's attention to detail is simply awesome. Some of the details I'd never seen before, such as hand made plush animals which sat inside quintessentially English tea cups. Just brilliant!
Speeches followed a wonderfully laid out afternoon tea before the big finale. A private safari tour of Chester Zoo. After the paying park guests had left, the wedding party was split into two groups and taken around the park where we got to witness black rhino, gazelles, wild dogs and best of all, LIONS. I'll never forget standing 2 metres behind Ruth who was inches from the dominant male before he let out the biggest roar I've ever heard. It's hard to explain how it resinates through your body, but after the zoo keeper explained how neighbours can hear the roar 5 miles away, I'm sure you get an idea.
I'd just like to sat a huge thank you to Ruth and Marc who truly had an amazing wedding. Here's wishing you a long, happy and prosperous future together. I've put a few images from this awesome day below, enjoy!
